Go Fringe Yourself 2024 – The Montreal Fringe Festival Special

It’s the 507th annual Montreal Fringe Festival! That number may be slightly exaggerated by when it comes to festivals thriving in this city I am here for the Fringe. We’ve already had a couple of great episodes with the likes of Raquel Maestre, Amy and Kenny and Iris Bahr talking about the Montreal Fringe Festival but this episode is our annual “Go Fringe Yourself” Montreal Fringe special!

That means we are playing host to artists from not just one… not just two… but three great shows for you this week!

We’ve got Clara and Annie from “Are You Listening?”, Shelby and Lucy from “Late in Life Lesbian” and Lou Laurence from “Love, Sharks & Frenching: a hot date with Lou Laurence.”

All three of these shows seem like surefire bets for all of your Montreal Fringe Festival schedules so get on that.

Go Fringe Yourself 2023: 9 Lives, 8 Near Misses + Hey Bitch, Love You + Who, Me?

The St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival is back! That means our Fringe podcast is back!

Sarah and I are super excited for this year’s Fringe lineup and to celebrate we sat down with the artists behind 3 incredible sounding shows that will be happening as part of the 2023 editions of the Montreal Fringe Festival.

It’s the perfect blend of three different shows that will get you thinking about fan fiction, kung-fu and marriage. Your mind will be spinning as you contemplate time-loops, car accidents and Harry Styles. You will dive head first into the world of best friends, daily Facebook posts and anesthesiology. I won’t tell you which show all these things are from, you will have to listen to the whole episode to find out for yourself.

Seriously though, there is so much happening this year, if you’ve been putting off getting back into the Fringe due to that big ole’ pandemic you have a whole lot of fringing to catch up on. Hopefully Sarah and I will see you at the Fringe Park and we can share a beer!

The Adoption (Eve Parker Finley, Nicky Fournier & Amanda McQueen) – GPYS 257

The Montreal podcast that asks the cast of “The Adoption”: What’s a story of you being romantically rejected? That question submitted by fellow Montreal Fringe performer Leighland Beckman back in episode 256.

The St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival is in full effect with A-Z programming starting TODAY! The Fringe Park is open, shows are happening live and in person and it is really starting to feel like festival season is finally back in Montreal after 2 long years of being (somewhat) muted by that pesky global pandemic.

One of the hottest tickets at this year’s show is shaping up to be none other than “The Adoption” and we are beyond excited to welcome all three stars to Go Plug Yourself to talk about their upcoming Fringe show. Eve Parker Finley, Nicky Fournier and Amanda McQueen were all gracious enough to join Inés and I at the back of Grumpy’s to take a meandering walk through failed romantic endeavors, fruity pebbles, celebrity crushes and everything in between.

About “The Adoption”

The Adoption is the story of a young person who chooses to become a solo parent to an adopted child – a decision that ripples through their chosen family circle. Amy Blackmore and the Return of Live Theater (Hopefully) – GPYS 229

Amy Blackmore joins the Montreal podcast that asks the question: “Who have you thought about recently from your past that you realized you had forgotten about?” (asked by Tim Riel back in episode 227).

Amy Blackmore has had a hell of year.

We’ve all had a hell of year but Amy’s might have taken the cake.

From having Mainline Theater shut down due to the pandemic (followed rapidly by the cancellation of any live and in person Fringe shows) to overcoming a string of personal issues let me just say that the fact the she is going full steam ahead right now is absolute craziness.

But, dwelling on the negative is for suckers and Amy Blackmore is no sucker. Amy also comes up with probably the most succinct answers ever to Question 3.

So it is that we welcome Amy back to the show to talk about the very imminent (hopefully) return of live theater, staying positive as we approach the finish line to all this shit and more. Things are finally getting close to being back to normal, let’s stay safe, do the thing and hopefully in 6 months this will all start fading into a distant memory. Let’s go.

    Stéfan Cédilot & Kathleen Aubert have become somewhat known in the Montreal theater scene for their use of dynamic soundtracks in their works. This year, they shake things up quite a bit by producing two shows that are not just devoid of soundtracks, but are also nearly completely silent.

    (Silence.) is two short plays, each telling its own story and exploring different facets of silence : what it says, what it shows, and what it hides.

  • Go Fringe Yourself 2019 – COLLISION

    Tiera Joly Pavelich suffered multiple concussions in the span of a few short years as a dancer. Somehow, she has taken that experience and used it as fuel to create something amazing. Working as a choreographer, Tiera has guided Gabriela Guerra Woo through her experiences in interpretive dance and movement.

    Sarah plans on watching this and crying quietly throughout.

Tiera Joly Pavelich suffered multiple concussions in the span of a few short years as a dancer. Somehow, she has taken that experience and used it as fuel to create something amazing.
