NDG Comedy Fest – Go Plug Yourself 277 with Walter J. Lyng & Troy Stark

The Montreal podcast that asks Walter J. Lyng and Troy Stark (of The NDG Comedy Fest) not one, but two questions:

What is your favorite Montreal thing that isn’t around anymore?
What is your dream vehicle that is also a Transformer?

Those questions asked by Yannick and Alex (Les Voyeurs de Vues) back in episode 276.

My former (and sometimes still) co-host Walter J. Lyng can never be faulted for his work ethic. It seems like every time he closes a project off he’s got something bigger and better in the pipeline. Why not add “organize a comedy festival” to that list?

The inaugural NDG Comedy Fest is happening next weekend from May 19th to the 21st in beloved Montreal borough NDG. Walter is bringing out some of the biggest names in the Montreal comedy scene for your enjoyment. Derek Seguin, Leighland Beckman, Joey Elias, Bowser & Blue and a host of other amazing comedians round out the festivities. Walter tells me that the best way to enjoy the NDG Comedy Fest The best way to enjoy the festival is to get the all-access pass (to buy an all-access pass just click on any event and select the all-access pass option at ticketing).

Troy Stark also jumps on this episode (is he one of the NDG Comedy All Stars perhaps?) and we have a grand old time at the back of Grumpy’s.

Troy Stark Returns – GPYS 266

The Montreal podcast that asks the founder of the Montreal Grand Comedy Competition Troy Stark: Leather or lace? And also: What is your favorite horror movie? These questions brought to you by the wonderful and talented people behind The Terrors of Misery’s Grove: Jason Grimmer and Jess Fildes back in episode 265.

Troy Stark is once again award $1000 cold hard Canadian dollars to one of Montreal’s comedians. Over 100 comedians participated but we’re down to the last few rounds of competition. This Sunday November 13th and next Wednesday November 16th at The Diving Bell Social Club are the last two semi-final rounds of competition and then the grand finale will be December 11th featuring all the finalists and none other than our house-band Auril Turpitude! Be sure to keep tabs of #MTLGrand on Facebook on Instagram for updates and make sure to be there in person for when Troy hands some talented comedian a (presumably actually huge) big ole’ check!

Some of you might know Troy Stark from The Nerdy Show and Lawrence Corber is co-hosting this episode with me so… spoilers, it gets pretty nerdy up in this podcast. We talk about Witcher, Dark Souls, Super Meat Boy, comic books, other video games and a bunch of other nerdy shit. You should still listen, but I just thought I would put that out there for you.

Welcome back to Montreal’s boyishly charming podcast, Go Plug Yourself! This week we welcome back two of the funniest people in Montreal: Troy Stark and Vance Michel. These guys are both bonafide hustlers in the Montreal comedy scene and have a ton of stuff coming up in the next few months.

Vance and Walter run The World’s Smallest Open Mic every Monday (an idea that was actually born the last time Vance was on the show) and Troy is arranging things over at The MTL Grand Open at McKibbins (more info on Perfect Bite Productions Facebook page).

Troy Stark & Shirley Whalen: GPYS 139

Troy Stark and Shirley Whalen have never been on the podcast before so we thought it was high time to have both of them on at the same time. Why make you wait for two episodes when we can just double your fun for the price of free? Both Shirley and Troy are all over the place and you should obviously go check out whatever show they’re featured on, but in the mean time you should probably check out Troy’s recurring comedy night “The Nerdy Show” on September 22nd (where the theme is Batman, which also kind of becomes the theme of this episode) and check out Shirley on the forthcoming Crimson Wave comedy album about period jokes.

Also, I’ve mystyped Shirley’s name as “Sheila” a bunch of times, I desperately hope I don’t accidentally call her “Sheila” at some point in this podcast. If I do: I am so sorry.
