The Fantasia International Film Festival podcast series by the good people of 9to5.cc is coming to an end. Sadface.
In this episodes the hosts of 9ES discuss: Agnes, Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched and Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes. Boy, we sure did choose some long movie names to cram into that episode image, didn’t we?
Once again this year’s Fantasia Festival is mostly online, with only a few films being screened live due to the ongoing pandemic that, spoilers, isn’t over yet!
The real horror was Covid-19.
I digress.
As we have since *checks notes* 2012, the 9to5.cc crew will be watching a whole bunch of Fantasia Festival movies and, as is our wont, we will be recording podcasts about them.
Sweet sweet audio reviews of some of the best of genre cinema. Normally we recommend you listen to these reviews while waiting in the long ass lineups waiting to get into the movies but since this year is mostly online maybe you just listen to them while you work or something?
I don’t know man.
As always, if you enjoy these shows, tell your friends and share the episodes and if you like the little thing we’ve got going on please consider checking out Go Plug Yourself and 9ES, the podcasts we run all year long. If you like our shows, please subscribe.
Enjoy the episode!

The Fantasia International Film Festival is running from August 5th to August 25th with some movies being available on-demand throughout and some films only available at timed screenings. Be sure to check out the Official Website for film availability.
As always, thank you to all the amazing genre film makers who continue to make Fantasia a highlight of the year for us.
Keith does all sorts of things here on 9to5.cc, he works with the other founders on 9to5 (illustrated), co-hosts our two podcasts: The 9to5 Entertainment System and Go Plug Yourself and blogs here as The Perspicacious Geek.

The Montreal podcast that asks Borough Mayor of Borough Mayor of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Sue Montgomery: “What do you want to do as an adult?” Asked by Léa Philippe and Émilie Allard of the FAR Festival back in episode 237.
Walter steps back into his co-hosting shoes on this episode since he actually lives in NDG which just so happens to be the borough that Sue Montgomery is the mayor of. Walter is also one of the administrators over at Thrive NDG on Facebook so he is an active member of the community.
Despite her station in Montreal politics, we actually speak very little about Sue Montgomery’s political career. Instead we focus on the absolutely fascinating journey that has been her life up to the point of assuming office a few years ago. From traveling abroad, to working the justice beat at The Montreal Gazette to working at a prison, Sue has had a wealth of life experience.
Content Warning: Sue was actually a student at the Brampton Centennial Secondary school in 1975 so we do discuss the tragic topic of school shootings, listener discretion is advised.
And of course be sure to follow Sue on social media. She’s @montgomerysue on Twitter and also on Facebook. Naturally we encourage you to also head out and vote on the Municipal Elections of the City of Montréal on November 6th and 7th in your borough.

The Montreal geek podcast that opens up the show with hot takes about the music of 1994 is back in your ear holes with all three of us on the show! Spoilers: 1994 may have been one of the greatest years in music history I will fight you on this. While it didn’t come out in 1994, The Color and The Shape by Foo Fighters is definitely one of the greatest albums of the last few decades and we get a little into the somewhat secret past of the song and how it relates to Veruca Salt.
We also talk about the fact that Apple is designing tech to look at all of your photos, the Fear Street trilogy streaming now on Netflix, The Army of the Dead (also on Netflix) and wrap things up with a little bit of AEW wrestling talk.
If you enjoyed the AEW talk, we talk about the 5 Labors of Jericho and Jon’s immense accomplishment in Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup on this week’s Garbage Time, available Friday over on our Patreon page at the 9ES Deluxe level subscription.

The Montreal podcast that asks Léa Philippe and Émilie Allard of the FAR Festival: “Have you ever destroyed someone?” (as asked by John Hatz from I Love Neon in episode 236).
So, I thought it was 2019, but apparently it must have been 2020 when I happened to stumble upon a pop-up circus performance in one of Montreal’s alleyways. It turns out that it was a part of a festival that I had never heard of before. Namely: The FAR Festival: Le Festival des arts de ruelle de Montréal. In a city that is defined by its festivals I don’t think there is quite anything like the FAR. A combination of fixed stages, pop shows, parades and mobile stages that brings art to the streets (or more accurately alleys). Musicians, circus performers, acrobats and more make up the over 200 artists that will be performing at the festival between August 12 and September 12.
Lawrence and I were lucky enough to host two of the wonderful people behind this festival: Léa Phillipe and Émilie Allard. Léa and Émilie discuss the charm of the festival, how it came to be and the importance of bringing the arts to everyone.
Listen now and enjoy the show and be sure to keep tabs on the FAR Festival to find out when a show might be popping up near you:

Lawrence Corber also produces some shows you may have heard of (you should probably check out the next Healthy Living show when you get a chance) and if you’re close with him you can call him Lully. The other way to call him “Lully” is to follow him on his socials. @Lully514 on Instagram.

The Montreal geek and pop culture podcast is back once again and this time we’re taking a look at some of this summer’s biggest blockbusters. In this case Keith went to go see F9 and in a Cineplex VIP cinema and Scott watched Black Widow from the comfort of his own home on Disney+.
As I mentioned (repeatedly) in this episode, Scott and I actually recorded this episode in the same room for the first time in over a year.
It felt… strange.
All the same we are both double vaccinated so this seemed like a good opportunity to see what each other’s feet look like. I mean podcast together. Not a foot thing.
No you.
As always, we warmly invite you over to our Patreon Page and subscribe to the “9ES Deluxe” level which will get you access to all kinds of great perks, not least of which is “Garbage Time”, the companion episode to each regular episode that we publish. On this week’s Garbage Time Scott gets mad at anyone who put their faith in Kevin Smith when it comes to He-Man and we talk about X-Men comics from the 90s. Remember Revanche? The X-Man? No. That’s because she died of the Legacy Virus or something. We’re deep in the weeds now kids.
