We cut out the middlemen (those run of the mill comedians) and head straight to the source for the JFL scoop (what a scoop!). Talar and Danny are a huge part of the behind the scenes publicity that goes on for Montreal’s Just for Laughs festival and they stop by to talk all about the festival and what it has in store for you, the Go Plug Yourself listener. Of course, by talk about the festival I mean talk about writing on bananas, mocking Toronto and smoking cold medication. Also there’s a lady who found a Jenga piece and really wanted to talk about it and gets interviewed by Danny Payne. Remember when Hollywood used to show up all the time on older episodes? It’s like that. This one is a little noisy since we recorded it on a Thursday evening and let’s just say that summer in Montreal brings out the drunks in all of us.

Go Plug Yourself JFL Special Part 2: DeAnne Smith, Paul F. Tompkins and Mick Foley

Following up on our all-star roster in Part 1 of the JFL Special, we have an equally insane lineup for this episode. We finally managed to track down and get DeAnne Smith into the Go Plug Yourself hotseat, hooked up briefly with a podcasting superstar, the hilarious and always well dressed Paul F. Tompkins and finally we closed off the night by sitting down with Mick Foley. Just for the record, we were recording with Foley at nearly 3:00 am, that’s how commited we were to making this the greatest show possible.

As we’ve mentioned elsewhere, we “switched on” the site a year ago. It’s somewhat fitting that the first post I wrote exclusively for the site (other stuff had been pulled from my old blog) was about Just for Laughs 29. I never would’ve thought that one year later I would be sitting down and having discussions with DeAnne Smith, Paul F. Tompkins and Mick Foley at Just for Laughs 30. Go Plug Yourself JFL Special: Steve Patterson, Dave Merheje, Patrick Cassels and Kenny Hotz

Oh man, I can’t even begin to do justice to how special this episode is. The sheer volume of specialness is a crushing weight upon my person. Walter and I did some run and gun podcasting at the Hyatt bar last week for the 30th Anniversary of Just for Laughs. The result? A two part podcast special devoted to some of the great talents at the festival. Tune in to part one (this episode) to hear Steve Patterson from CBC Radio’s The Debaters, Just for Laughs 2011 Home Grown winner Dave Merheje, College Humor’s Patrick Cassels and finally Kenny Hotz (from Kenny vs Spenny and Triumph of the Will). This is just the first part! Next week we’ll have part 2 with DeAnne Smith, Paul F. Tompkins and none other than Mick Foley! Tell your friends.
