In addition to being the host of The Pressure Drop show on CJLO, Danny also is the founder of Raison d’être Media, an ethical PR group promoting interesting (and ethical) events all over the city.

Yep. That’s Danny Payne right there. That’s an honest to goodness picture of Danny Payne in Brighton in the 90s and absolutely not a picture of Matthew Lillard from the film Hackers. Danny Payne comes on the show to talk about all the cool and awesome stuff he’s got going on over at Raison D’etre Media, his new radio show “Pressure Drop” on CJLO, upcoming shows, Brexit and long lost relatives. All this and probably more.

Go Plug Yourself 40: Danny Payne and Talar Adam (JFL)

We cut out the middlemen (those run of the mill comedians) and head straight to the source for the JFL scoop (what a scoop!). Talar and Danny are a huge part of the behind the scenes publicity that goes on for Montreal’s Just for Laughs festival and they stop by to talk all about the festival and what it has in store for you, the Go Plug Yourself listener. Of course, by talk about the festival I mean talk about writing on bananas, mocking Toronto and smoking cold medication. Also there’s a lady who found a Jenga piece and really wanted to talk about it and gets interviewed by Danny Payne. Remember when Hollywood used to show up all the time on older episodes? It’s like that. This one is a little noisy since we recorded it on a Thursday evening and let’s just say that summer in Montreal brings out the drunks in all of us.

Go Plug Yourself 17: Danny Payne

It’s me! It’s me! It’s D-D-P!

The best part about that joke is that Danny himself doesn’t get it. Seriously, it means nothing to him. I’m not gonna explain it you, I’m not gonna hold your hand so stop asking. Ok, just who is Danny Payne? Well, in addition to be a generally awesome person (sadly fans, that’s not enough to get on the show) and an amazing PR dude (that’s Public Relations, read a book) he also exposes people to unsigned indie bands from the UK on a regular basis in multiple locations in the city, including the radio, since that’s a location. All his info after the jump below the podcast. Listen now, it’s good fun, he has a great British accent too, which means this episode is for the ladies.
