It’s been a busy few weeks. Between Just For Laughs, Osheaga, a wedding and a 2000 mile road trip we kinda, sorta, maybe didn’t get around to booking anything for this week’s Go Plug Yourself.
We had hoped to hook something up with an Osheaga band but it just wasn’t in the cards this year.
So instead we take a trip down memory lane to Osheaga 2017 when Scott and I sat down with Emma and Dragos from Men I Trust who were kind enough to join us at the back of Grumpy’s the Monday after the 2017 edition of Osheaga. At the time they had only released their self-titled album and Headroom and it really felt like they were on the verge of exploding. That feeling proved to be 100% accurate as they would go on to perform at Coachella and Lollapalooza in the leadup to the release of Oncle Jazz. Oncle Jazz became one of the most anticipated and well received albums of 2019 and Untourable Album was a wonderful release during the pandemic.
It was cool to see them setting up their own gear at this year’s Osheaga. One of the things we talk about in this episode is how much the “DIY” ethic permeates the band and 5 years later it was a joy to see them maintain that hands on approach.
Anyhow, sit back and relax and enjoy our chat with Men I Trust.
