The Montreal arts and entertainment podcast that asks Abby Stonehouse and Alo Azimov of Ladyfest: What is a quote that inspires you? That question asked by Sloan Kooshan and Dawn McSweeney back in episode 301.

First of all, once again I need to mention that we recorded this episode remotely. So apologies if the audio levels are a little all over the place.

Ladyfest is returning to Montreal once again in 2024 and once again there is almost an entire week of Ladyfestivities for you to enjoy! Abby Stonehouse and Alo Azimov join Walter and I to talk about all things Ladyfest, tornadoes and finding your audience. Abby Stonehouse does a million things around town and online (like the House of Stone Podcast) and is currently one of the head ladies of Ladyfest. Alo Azimov performs and produces all over Montreal as well and has been a part of Ladyfest since the very start. Both Abby and Alo are Ladyfest and comedy veterans and are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the shows going down next week.

The Montreal podcast that asks some of the producers of LadyFest 2022: Who is your boy band crush? A question asked (of course) by Abby Stonehouse and Michelle Dominique in our last episode.

Elspeth Wright and Raquel Maestre join Chris Venditto and I on this very special episode of Go Plug Yourself where we celebrate the upcoming LadyFest! That’s right, LadyFest is returning for the first time since 2019 celebrating, supporting and inspiring women performing comedy in Montreal! Elspeth and Raquel talk about language in comedy, producing shows and obviously boy bands and pop music.

Stay up to date with all the upcoming shows on the LadyFestMTL Facebook Page and Instagram. LadyFest kicks off September 13th with a special LadyFest edition of Stand-up St-Henri and then runs from the 14th to the 16th at the Diving Bell Social Club.

Hard hitting questions here folks. Just two of the many, many talented people that make up this year’s edition of Ladyfest join Walter and I this week to talk about… you know what? Try to guess. Try to guess what we talk about smart-stuff. Think long and hard about it.

If you guessed “an erotic novel about a woman getting it on with a bear you are a magic person.

Anyways, we talk about some stuff. We of course talk about the amazing shows that are coming up this weekend as part Ladyfest (check out the official website and their Facebook for those sweet, sweet deets) which you should really, really check out. Celebrate comedy while sticking it to the patriarchy! Or just celebrate comedy. Patriarchy destruction may be a by-product though.

Ladyfest! (Deirdre Trudeau and Sara Meleika) – Go Plug Yourself 164

Ladyfest kicked off this past Monday but there are a TON of shows coming up this coming Thursday, Friday, Saturday and even Sunday (you should really check out the full lineup here). Deirdre Trudeau and Sara Meleika are some of the talented women putting this amazing celebration of women (and allies) and general hilarity! We talk about a lot of the problems that face women in comedy and women in general. For instance, we spend a good chunk of this podcast trying to figure out what high-school required reading books actually feature a strong female protagonist. Also this show is (obviously) hilarious.
