With WrestleMania right around the corner, we thought it was high time to have yet another episode devoted to one of our favorite things: pro wrestling. Sure, we’ve got that OTHER show where we only talk about wrestling (and you should definitely be listening to Pat on the Mat if you aren’t already) but it’s not the same as sitting down with a wrestler and just shooting the shit.

If you only watch the WWE brand of pro-wrestling, you’re doing yourself a massive disservice. There is amazing, local, affordable indie wrestling promotions in Montreal and one of the best of those is the one and only BATTLEWAR and they will be celebrating their 7th Anniversary on April 14th at Foufounes Electrique. Giant Tiger is one of the mad geniuses behind the magic of BATTLEWAR and we welcome him back to the show to talk about learning to wrestle in the back of a porn studio, wrecking people’s cars with a moving truck (transporting a wrestling ring of course) and having his jaw wired shut after working a stiff match. It’s a good one.

Go Plug Yourself 71: Lar Vi and James McGee (Broken River)

So some of you may remember James when he appeared on the show to promote the local wrestling federation BATTLEWAR along with the degenerate friend of the show Giant Tiger (who is a GPYS Triple Crown winner) and while we do end up talking about wrestling during this show, this time he was plugging his other performance endeavor: improv. In this case he (along with co-star Lar Vi) is plugging an ongoing long-form improv mystery show that is being staged weekly at the Montreal Improv called “Broken River”. Broken River is being staged every Sunday in November at Montreal Improv for only 8$, here’s the event page on Facebook.

Oh man kids, you are not going to want to miss this one. The one, the only, the unemployed: Giant Tiger! I guess since he’s no longer with the federation he’s got a lot of free time on his hands. Tiger (presumably out of the goodness of his heart) showed up at Grumpy’s to talk about a match where he had sex with Beef Wellington, getting drunk and then having ACTUAL SEX with a woman on a respirator. You might think I’m spoiling the story, but I’m not. There’s so much more. This is another epic episode of Go Plug Yourself. Go Plug Yourself Holiday Special: Giant Tiger

Listen kids, I’m not going to lie (even though I very often lie), the only reason this episode isn’t officially episode 50 is because we expect to have some sort of fanfare surrounding episode 50 that’s going to bother everyone involved. Instead, we’re calling this little beauty our Holiday Special. What makes it so special? Well, it was a surprise guest! It’s not a surprise to you, his name is right there. However, it was a surprise to me. Walter literally came over to my house and stalled for time so that someone could buzz up to my apartment. It sort of sounded like my friend Ronan so I thought nothing of it. Then who came into my house? FUCKING GIANT TIGER. With the mask on and everything! I was sure I was being robbed! Tiger talks about everything you’d expect: wrestling, krokodil, sleeping in internet cafes and jerking off a bunch. Listen now!gpystiger

Go Plug Yourself 47: The Stars of Battlewar

Ohhhhhhhh…. what a russssssshhhhhh…. Walter and I managed to call in a lot of favours and get backstage access while the ring crew set up the BATTLEWAR ring at Foufounes Electrique. In a true show of courage Walter managed to secure a few minutes with some of the more intimidating, bizarre stars of the Montreal based independent wrestling promotion. Top contenders for the upcoming BATTLEWAR championship Buxx Belmar and Shayne Hawke, along with the Hardcore Hero The Green Phantom and ring announcer (and about to come out of retirement for “one more match”) Beef Wellington.
