I am still shocked that Look Who’s Talking Now features the voice talents of Danny Devito…as a dog… in a movie full of pee-pee poo-poo jokes… and does not have him deliver the line “what? poop is funny.” If Look Who’s Talking Now was the origin of that iconic bit of comedy gold it would have opened up a brand new meme on the internet I’m sure of it.

Sadly the movie failed even delivering that possible little historical comedy nugget for Jon’s entertainment. Instead it featured a baby dunking on Charles Barkley.

‘Tis the season for horror movies and it seems like Jon and Scott barely understood the assignment. Jon may have started Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinnochio” but then bailed when it was too dark and scary for his baby.

How is the baby going to get through “Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom” if you’re pulling the plug on Pinnochio? Parents these days.

Meanwhile, Keith watched Marvel’s Werewolf by Night (in black and white because why would you want to watch it in colour) and it was… fine. Those are the kind of hot takes you can come up with when you’re getting close to 300 episodes of pop-culture podcasting.

Meanwhile over on Garbage Time… listen, my show notes on the bonus episode are pretty shoddy this time around, I know we talk about Sextile and The BCASA and I remember that Scott ragged on Drew Barrymore a little, but this episode is almost 40 minutes long and I’m not sure those are the only things we talk about. Montreal’s best podcast remembers that technically this is our Halloween 2022 episode so we kind of talk mostly about spooky movies.

And also spooky international trade wars between the United States and China.

SpooOoOOooky.

Last episode, we talked about the upcoming Re-Rank of some movies on the list, this episode we talk about it again. We will probably talk about it for the next few episodes and get around to the whole re-rank thing around the winter holidays.

“My Bloody Valentine” is criminally underrated. I think it has worked it’s way into the annals of horror cult cinema but it should probably be propped up a lot closer to the Last House on the Left and Friday the 13ths of this world than it currently is. The fact that it is a Canadian film that is plainly filmed in Nova Scotia is just a delightful bonus. Bottles of Moosehead… everywhere.

There was a lot of backlash surrounding “Hocus Pocus 2” (The Hocus Pocusing) but honestly, it was fine. The original was not that great, and nothing in the sequel seemed that out of touch with the campiness of the original. That said “Hocus Pocus” was never really one of my childhood movies. To some people maybe this feels like the Star Wars prequels. I dunno.

We keep the spookiness rolling in this week’s episode of Garbage Time. We go over some of our Spooky Season go-tos and talk about what movies and TV shows we tend to gravitate too every October. We also have some killer (*dramatic organ music*) podcast recommendations like The Old Gods of Appalachia and The White Vault.
