(Unofficial) Osheaga Podcast 2023: The Comedown

And just like that… it’s over.

Osheaga hit a record attendance of over 155,000 over this past weekend. I’ll be the first to admit that Friday started off a little rough as everyone (organizers and fans alike) adjusted to the new layout but then from there on it was pretty damn smooth. We’ve got so much to say about this year’s edition that this might be the longest “Comedown” episode we’ve ever done.

We saw a LOT of bands you guys. We talk about the shows we saw, the friends we made and then do a little speculative fan booking for who might be popping up at next year’s Osheaga. Mark your calendars for August 2nd to 4th in 2024 folks, because at this point you already know it’s going to be lit. Actually, you can buy your tickets right now if you’re adventurous.

Osheaga is in a week!

Hope you’ve got your outfits picked out.

That means it’s time for the last episode in our podcast series, where we take a look at 5 more bands from Sunday’s lineup to help you build your schedule. Sunday is SOLD OUT so if you don’t have your tickets by now well – too bad for you. A lot of people probably bought their tickets to enjoy Kendrick and Fred Again but there’s a whole lineup worth checking out folks. Listen – normally I would have more to say here but 3 Day Passes are sold out, Sunday is sold out – I’m pretty sure by next week Saturday will be sold out too.

Obviously this podcast has really pushed ticket sales over the edge this year so thanks to all of you getting pumped up with Sarah and I once again. Can’t wait to see you all at Osheaga people – maximum hype mode go go go!

Sunday can seem to be top-heavy at first glance. With Kendrick Lamar, Fred Again.. and Rezz closing out the festivities – but the full lineup is also great and makes me wonder just how much time I’m going to need to recover from Osheaga weekend. Oh, also, if you haven’t had the chance you should really check out the local artists that have been added to the Backyard Sessions stage. Looks like a great little sample of some of the amazing home-grown music coming out of Montreal.

As always,  to get ourselves (and you!) hyped up for one of our favorite weekends of the year Sarah and I do what we do every year: listen to the whole dang lineup and make an impossible to follow schedule for all 3 days by falling in love with a dozen artists each day! This episode we are finally taking a look at Day 3 Sunday’s lineup to choose some of our favorite non-headline acts.

It’s here! It’s finally here! Not Osheaga. Not yet anyways. But warm weather! Warm weather is here and I’m wearing a sleeveless shirt while I type this up!

I think I mentioned last episode that Saturday is quickly shaping up to be my most anticipated day of the festival. There is a definite summer vibe and there so many multicultural artists that are normally outside of my wheelhouse. I’m hyped. Hyped I say. Oh, also, if you haven’t had the chance you should really check out the local artists that have been added to the Backyard Sessions stage. Looks like a great little sample of some of the amazing home-grown music coming out of Montreal.

Why is the weather always terrible when we record these? It’s June! It’s cold and raining! That means it’s time for another Osheaga podcast!

To get ourselves (and you!) hyped up for one of our favorite weekends of the year Sarah and I do what we do every year: listen to the whole dang lineup and make an impossible to follow schedule for all 3 days by falling in love with a dozen artists each day! This episode we starting looking into Saturday’s lineup and choose some of our favorite non-headline acts.

Our picks:

Not going to lie – when I first glanced at the Saturday lineup I was a little less enthusiastic than I was about Friday. However, after digging in to the Saturday lineup I am very excited for it. The vibe is a lot more laid back but for Day 2 of a festival I think just hanging out and listening to some of these artists is going to be amazing.

Anyhow, it’s June which means Sarah and I are currently hitting up the Montreal Fringe Festival pretty hard. See you in two weeks!

Sure it snowed last week but that doesn’t mean that summer isn’t around the corner, does it? And one of the best parts of summer in Montreal is Osheaga weekend. That means it’s time for another Osheaga podcast!

This year’s Friday lineup has to be one of our favorites since limiting ourselves to “just” 10 bands was actually pretty difficult. Some artists who we love on Friday include: Two Feet, Rina Sawayama, bbno$ and Kora. Suffice it to say we’re probably getting to the festival pretty early on Friday.

Anyhow, June is right around the corner so that means that we’re about to dive into Saturday’s lineup. See you in two weeks!

Osheaga Podcast 2023 (Unofficial): Friday (Part 1)

Our Unofficial Osheaga Podcast is back for 2023! We’re kicking things off with our first look at Friday’s lineup!

Every two weeks Sarah and I will be digging into the entire lineup of this year’s Osheaga to give you music recommendations all summer long. We’ll be picking ten acts from each day, talking about them and playing clips of their songs to give you a feel for their music and why we think they’ll be an amazing show.

But wait – you don’t need us to tell you why you should probably check out Kendrick Lamar now do you? So (for the purposes of this show) we ruled out the entire top line of each day of the lineup. So yes, that means you will need to decide for yourself if you’re going to see the likes of Billie Eilish or not.  Trust us, if you listen to all of these episodes you might find yourself running back and forth between stages all weekend and discovering your new favorite artist.
