Welcome back, my fearless friends. Yet again, it’s Friday, and as you well know, that means it is time for another installment of “Pictures of Kanye, Words of Noam”, where we look at pictures of Kanye West and read the words of Noam Chomsky.I’m in my Christian Dior with a Veronica Webb Noemie Lenoir, Chanel, Sessilee Lopez - "Christian Dior Denim Flow" Kanye West

Chomsky gave this quote in 2009, well before the appearance of the “Occupy” movement, practically predicting a social upheaval of some sort, even if he couldn’t exactly know what the upheaval would be.

Kanye West’s new album, “Watch The Throne” and co-MC’d by Jay-Z is not very good. I found it mostly to be poorly produced, meatless and unmemorable. Wikipedia states that as of November 2011, has sold 1,013,000 copies in the United States.

Look at this paragraph from the wiki (emphasis is mine):

Lyrical themes

The album features themes of opulence, fame, materialism, power, and the burdens of success.Jay-Z’s and West’s lyrics include boasts of obscene wealth, self aggrandisement, grandiosity, and social commentary. Sputnikmusic’s Tyler Fisher describes Watch the Throne as “an album centered around larger-than-life egos.” Andy Kellman of Allmusic characterizes much of the album’s lyrical content as “ruthless flaunting of material wealth and carte blanche industry resources.” Ross Green of Tiny Mix Tapes describes it as “luxury rap“, noting Jay-Z’s and West’s “whimsy and braggadocio.” Rob Harvilla of Spin views that their lyrics express elitism, narcissism, “relentless capitalism,” and “smug yet undeniable greatness.

Certified platinum record. I just don’t know.
