Beer: Imperial Milk Stout

Brewer: Microbrasserie Charlevoix

Extra strong milk stout, 9%.

Bought it because it was once recommended to me by a customer, and after trying their Extra Special Bitter and loving it so much, I just couldn`t argue with myself. Plus that cow mascot kills me.

Do not be fooled by the amount of foam seen on the above photo. I was a damned fool and poured too fast near the end, underestimating the amount of beer left in the bottle. After letting it settle for a couple of minutes, I`m left with a nice thin yet creamy, coffee coloured foam.

This smells nice. Like coffee and something like a burned dessert. Haaah the label says roasted malts, coffee, mildly bitter chocolate and burned caramel.

Oh interesting. This is like, mostly bitter at first, and then the bitterness dissolves into sweet malty…sweetness. Of caramel I guess. I dunno, it`s sweet. I like it. It`s not too thick, but it`s smooth, I`m guessing thanks to the lactose in there. Brings it together nicely. One of the reasons I like stouts is often because of the different sweetness you can find in them, but this one brought a burned-banana-bread-corner delight to the table. Very pleasant.

This stout is crazy cheap for it`s alcohol content. It packs a punch at 9%, and should probably be savoured slowly.

I say probably.

But you know.

Yum.
