Look At All My Sh*t – October Loot Crate “TIME”
We’ve got to back Marty! Back to the future! Your kids are basically assholes! I was pretty vocal in my disappointment in last month’s Loot Crate offering “SUMMON” since it was too focused on intellectual properties that I didn’t really care about. I imagine somewhere there’s like a parallel version of me who is super into Hearthstone and Pokemon who is looking at this month’s crate and going “what the hell is this crap?” with this month’s box. Not me though. I mentioned it over on r/lootcrate that they’d have a hard time messing this one up and by golly, they delivered. Going into this month’s crate I felt pretty confident we were going to see Bill and Ted, Back to the Future and Doctor Who and the Loot People did not disappoint. Let’s take a look at what we’ve got in the little box of time travel.
Going into this month’s crate I felt pretty confident we were going to see Bill and Ted, Back to the Future and Doctor Who and the Loot People did not disappoint. Let’s take a look at what we’ve got in the little box of time travel. I think the only time travel property that I was kind of hoping for that they missed out on was Chrono Trigger. But hey, they still did pretty well.Funko Pop! Doc Brown
Let me tell you a little story about Sarah. When I took this little guy out of the crate she said “Who’s that?” I said, “Doc Brown.” And she looked at me blankly, don’t worry, I didn’t have to call of the wedding, we sat down and watched Back to the Future Part 1 only a few days later, but it still made me very sad. The internet eats up the Funko Pop! figurines and I guess it’s because they make a nice little collection and have figs from nearly every geeky thing there is. I prefer my figs to be a little more varied but still, a few little Pop! figurines on the shelf looks pretty great. I also like that this is a cool variant that’s quite a but different from the regular Pop! Doc Brown. This guy is up on my TV stand for now, but he’ll get a good spot on the figurine shelf down the road.

Doctor Who Sonic Spork
Yet another item from a franchise that I hold near and dear to my heart. The spork is pretty much the closest humanity has ever come to inventing something as useful as a Sonic Screwdriver. This is kind of a weird item though, since even though in concept it’s incredibly cool, it kind of has the problem of actual usefulness. I mean, does it really work as a display piece? Not really. Are you going to use it as an actual utensil? Probably not. I don’t care though, it’s cool. That counts for a lot in my books.
Happiness: ♥ ♥ ♥Be Excellent to Each Other T-Shirt
This is a strong contender for one of my favorite t-shirts they’ve ever sent me as part of Loot Crate. I mean, it’s no skull made of kittens, but it’s still pretty damn cool. Bill & Ted is a franchise that I’m always a little bummed doesn’t have more of a fan base. Hell, I even enjoy Bogus Journey quite a bit. Fun fact, the Pauly Shore movie “Biodome” was originally written as the third Bill & Ted movie. That might explain my slightly uncharacteristic love of the film Biodome. Anyways, my only beef with this shirt that prevents it from a full 5 heart rating is the fact that it looks too much like an Old Navy/Target print t-shirt for my taste. Instead of being a cool Bill & Ted shirt from Loot Crate some people will just see a 10$ shirt from a reasonably priced clothing store.
Happiness: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥Hoverboard Miniature Replica
In case you’re wondering, Sarah also had no idea what this was. She said it was like ‘Barbie skateboard with no wheels’ and I mean, in a way she’s right, but it’s the floating Barbie scooter-turned-skateboard that Marty rode in his daring escape from Griff! Come on now! There’s a lot of detail on this little replica, down to the little groove from where Marty popped the handlebars off from. It also has a little certificate of authenticity to make me feel like this isn’t just a toy that I would yell at someone for touching, but is instead a valuable collectible.

Well, that’s it for this crate. Quite a step up from SUMMON in my humble opinion. One little thing that bothers me just a little bit is that this is the second crate in a row that had multiple items from the same property. Last month they had two Hearthstone items (the stress ball and the in game currency) and this month it’s Back to the Future. Now, this month I actually liked the property, but it’s a slightly concerning trend that they’re having multiple items from the same fandom. When you’re into the thing, it’s cool, but it’s a big risk if you’re not. I guess October 2015 had nearly a 30 year build up from Back to the Future 2, but I hope they get away from doubling up on items moving forward.
Next month is COMBAT, which to me seems eerily reminiscent of BATTLE. Pretty broad if you ask me. Off the top of my head I’m thinking maybe some Mortal Kombat swag? Maybe some Hunger Games stuff with Mockingjay Part 2 comng out? Those are my guesses anyways.
