So I spoke a little bit about it on the latest 9Es podcast, but I figured, hey, why not share a little more about Purity Ring.

Fist, take a listen to “Belispeak”:

I don’t really know a whole lot about the band, aside from that they are from Montreal, and that they’ve just signed on by Last Gang Records, so I guess they should be working on a studio release or some such. Let’s see what Wikipedia has to say.

Purity Ring is a Canadian indie electronic band based out of Montreal who formed in 2010. The band consists of two members: Megan James (vocals) and Corin Roddick (instrumentals)

Neither Megan nor Corin are my Facebook friends. I guess Montreal is bigger than I thought. Or I’m not cool anymore. But I am pretty cool. Maybe they’re not as cool me. Or they’re busy touring and not meeting other cool Montrealers.

Shrines, Purity Ring’s debut album, was announced on April 23rd, 2012 by 4AD. It will be released July 24th, 2012.

Cool, so I was right, new album out in a couple of weeks. Good listening for the dog days of summer.
