I like listening to hip hop. I am pretty sure I like it more than Keith and Jon, and Sophie is a metal head and rappers get on her nerves. As such, I’m often on my own when it comes to discovering fresh new music in the hip hop genre, and when I do, it’s pretty damn exciting. Chiddy Bang is exactly the type of artist that gets me excited, and I want to share.

The duo mixes poppy beats and fun rhyming patters to make up a good sound. The lyrics are fun and clever, touching on themes of childhood and nostalgia and providing a nice break from the aggressive grandiosity of other recent rap hits.

Wikipedia tells me that “The group consists of Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege and Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin.” They are not afraid of going out of the box to get a good sound sample, as “The Opposite of Adults” samples and remixes MGMT’s “Kids” very heavily, but make it their own.

“Ray Charles” id the best single off of their new album “Breakfast”, and I think it has potential to be the breakout hit of the summer, along the lines of Outkast’s “Hey Ya” and Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”. It’s fun, catchy, and has broad appeal. The video is fun and can get good air play if there were any music television stations that still played music videos.

Check ’em out and let me know what you think. I rate Chiddy Bang 9 Head bobs.
