The Montreal podcast that revels in the celebration of a man-sized bunny stashing eggs around the house is back for episode 259.
We speculate a little here that Easter Bunny might be a pagan thing, but nope, it’s rooted in one of the weird corners of Christianity after all::
“The hare was a popular motif in medieval church art. In ancient times, it was widely believed (as by Pliny, Plutarch, Philostratus, and Aelian) that the hare was a hermaphrodite. The idea that a hare could reproduce without loss of virginity led to an association with the Virgin Mary, with hares sometimes occurring in illuminated manuscripts and Northern European paintings of the Virgin and Christ Child.”
Speaking of figures of legend, Keith found out about “Let Me Solo Her” over the weekend so we spend a little bit of time talking about Elden Ring and the strange tradition of brave players in their underwear fighting bosses by themselves.
We do a pretty good job of explaining why this player is a huge badass but so does this guy on YouTube.
I find the idea of these video game based tiny folk heroes kind of fascinating, and unlike the staged variety (Leeroy Jenkins), Let Me Solo Her is an honest to goodness (video game) hero. Showing up in other people’s games with a pot on his head and helping players defeat the hardest boss in the game.
That shit’s cool man.
Unfortunately, there is no Garbage Time this week. As you can probably tell during the episode Jono is feeling a little below the weather and Scott is just all the way not on the show. We’ll think of something to make it up to you. If you still want to show your support and check out past episodes of Garbage Time then head over to Patreon and subscribe at the 9ES Deluxe tier.
