Our Cities On Our Stages 2020 – Coko Galore and Ophira Calof (GPYS 213)
The Montreal podcast that asks the organizers of Our Cities On Our Stages: “Would you rather be a robot, and how much of a robot? Arms? Legs? Whole body?” (as asked by The Boids way back in episode 202!)
Coko Galore and Ophira Calof are our guests (remember when we had guests on this show?) this week to talk about the 5th Annual ‘Our Cities On Our Stages’. What is ‘Our Cities On Our Stages’?
“It’s a diversity and inclusion symposium, providing tools to BIPOC, disabled and LGBTQ2S+ comedy artists to pave a new way for comedy. This year, “Our Cities on Our Stages” is entirely online, opening the discussion to a global audience. From Friday August 7th to Sunday August 9th, participants will engage with topics including authenticity in storytelling, building community centred productions, and creating online shows. The recent launch of Bad Dog Comedy TV will be used as a case study and model.” (From Bad Dog Theatre Official Website).
Coko is the Artistic and Managing Director of the event and Ophira is a Curator and Producer. Normally the symposium takes place in Toronto but this year, like many other things, it is taking place entirely online! Which means that it doesn’t matter if you live in Toronto, Montreal or literally anywhere else on the planet, you can still attend!
So listen now for a lively chat about the MCU (again?), Watchmen, making comedy more accessible and be sure to check out the event on Facebook, join the Facebook Group and obviously feel free to donate to help make sure this year’s free edition is a success!
IMPORTANT: Register here as space is actually limited to the panels and you must register in order to attend!
Enjoy the show!
