Holy crap Batman! (Slightly relevant reference) I am going to be looking at two Loot Crates this week! Why? Well, because when I was gone they sent me the July Loot Crate (Heroes 2) and it got returned to sender, I subsequently got both July and August Loot Crates last week! So hurrah for me! The Batman reference up there is because both Heroes 2 and Villains 2 had Batman stuff. So there’s that.LootDoubleBox

Fortunately for me, both of these boxes were “big item” crates so that actual volume of stuff is on the small side (with less items but higher quality, something I’m always a fan of, more figures and collectibles, less stickers and whatnot). Let’s do this.

July 2015 – Heroes 2LootHero

Great big fat ole’ box here, I briefly thought there’d be a Funko POP! fig in here but I was (pleasantly) wrong.LootHeroBat

Lil’ Batman Guy (Q-Pop)

This tiny Caped Crusader is super cute and badass, double badass since he’s wearing the costume from the Adam West 60s Batman TV show. I’ve got a pretty big collection of vinyl figurines and action figures, but someone I presently don’t have an actual Batman in the collection (the closest thing I’ve got is the Joker-Batman) from a previous Crate. I’ve got a Joker and a Harley kicking around, but no Batman. Thanks for solving this problem for me that I didn’t even know I had Loot Crate! The only thing I will say about this that might be a sticking point for some fans is that the guy is a little chibi version of the hokiest version of Batman that there is. Some Bat-Fans might have wanted something a little more serious. To which I retort: (mandatory quote) Why So
Serious? This guy is amazing.

WonderWoman Mini-Poster

Whenever I see a little poster in a Loot Crate I get excited and worried. I’ve mentioned before that as I live with my now fiancé, as cool as she is, there’s a certain amount of filter something needs to go through in order to get up on our limited wall space. She’s very accepting of all sorts of things and we’ve got Iron Man, Spiderman, Ninja Turtles and a bunch of other incredibly geeky stuff up on our walls. The problem though is that it either needs to be VERY cool and will probably result in something else cool being taken down. So far, most of the little stuff that could go on your wall goes to my cubicle at work. WonderWoman is kind of in the middle, she’s very cool, but is she a cubicle or home level of cool? Only time will tell.

Batarang Multitool Key-chain

At first I was super jazzed that this was a bottle opener. Then I got ULTRA jazzed when I found out it was also a screwdriver. It’s like a utility belt in a Batarang! Why hasn’t Batman thought about this? All of his Batarangs could be multiple tools and save him some precious belt space! The reason this isn’t a 5 star item is two-fold. One is that Loot Crate sends us too many key-chains. Most of just don’t have that many keys and we’d be carrying around a ten pound weight in our pants if we used all of these key-chains. The other reason is that I feel like if I did actually use this as a key-chain I would stab myself in the leg repeatedly when it’s in my pocket.

Live Long and Prosper Air Freshener

R.I.P. Mr. Nemoy, may your hand make my car smell pleasant. You have been, and always shall be, my air freshener.

Zelda Wristband

Now, I used to have a pretty big wristband collection. I would wear wristbands all the goddamned time. This is one thing that Sarah has woefully put her foot down about. Apparently it’s not OK for a 30+ year old man to wear athletic wristbands with geek references on them. But you know what’s interesting? One of my favorite wristbands of all time was a green Legend of Zelda wristband that I wore so much it got frayed and tattered. Now, this guy isn’t green but I still think it is a sign that I should start immediately wearing wristbands again more often. Take that girlfriend.

The League of Regrettable Superheroes Book

If you’re a comic book guy then you’ve probably had your fair share of conversations about absolutely terrible superheroes. Who hasn’t talked about the worst mutant in the X-Men (Marrow) or how Lobo was just Wolverine in space riding a space motorcycle? Or how bad Aquaman sucks in so many different iterations? If you dig deeper you can find even more awful heroes. And the good people that made this book have. It’s awesome. Just opening it to a random page reveals Sleepy and The Nightmare. They’re a wrestler and his teenage manager (?) who fight crime or something. But not by wrestling. By maybe melting people’s faces?  How dumb is that?

Brawlhalla Game Skin Download

I dunno man, it’s free skins for a free game that I don’t play? What do you want from me here?

Overall: This was one of the best Crates, they’ve definitely been on an upswing since the dismal “COVERT” box. My only thing, and this is really just a missed opportunity, is that this is the HEROES 2 crate and there’s no items relating to the relaunch of the show “Heroes”. Just saying, that kind of thing sorta lends itself to the theme, don’t you think? Can’t wait for August’s Villai-OH MY GOD HERE IT IS.

August 2015 Loot Crate – Villains 2LootVillainOpen

As you can tell from what you’ve literally probably just read, July’s HEROES 2 Crate was one of my favorites. Will they be able to top it with Villains 2? Find out right now.

Is this how you transfer a symbiote? I think this is how you transfer a symbiote.

Venom’s Head Mug

OK, so this was the big item kind of. I think I may have said at one point that I kind of wanted more coffee mugs in one of these reviews, so I suppose I can’t really complain. There’s just a little gripe on my part and that’s the fact that this mug is full of little sculpted nooks and crannies since it’s not so much a mug as it is Venom’s face. Cleaning this guy will be hard. Maybe you’re not supposed to actually use it? Then if that’s the case, what’s the point? It’s a cool sculpt though. I’ve seen online that you could get Venom or Carnage, I’m not really sure which one I would have preferred. This is pretty cool but is probably going to be re-gifted.

Hydra Pin

Time for another nerdy history lesson about myself! I used to collect pins from wherever we traveled as a family. I kept them all on a hat that I wore around like the little nerd I was. One day on a boat ride with my dad the hat blew off and being a hat that was covered in metal pins it sunk promptly to the bottom of the lake. My dad even went snorkeling as deep as he could to see if the hat could be retrieved. It was a deep lake though and the hat was never seen again. As much as possible on future road trips I tried to re-collect some version of the pins as best as I could. Obviously this was with mixed success, but I did manage to rebuild my pin collection. Suffice it to say, I have a pin collection (future blog idea). This pin is now in that collection. Hail Hydra.

Wooden Joker Guy

Ok, is it just me or does Loot Crate have a serious hard-on for Joker? I mean, I think on some level we all do, but seriously. There was the Joker/Loki cross over t-shirt, the Joker-Batman Funko POP! figure, the Joker/Harley mini posters. I don’t think any single character has featured as prominently. I’m not even mad though. This dude is awesome. I’m only subtracting a heart since it’s a little too much Joker and it could’ve been some other Batman baddies. Little wooden Bane? Yeah.

LootVillainHermano

Los Pollos Hermanos Apron

This is pretty damn cool. I too was a little skeptical when Loot Crate talked about a never-before featured wearable. I was kind of thinking maybe a cap or something and was slightly disappointed when I heard it was an apron. I kept myself spoiler free regarding what the apron was and in my head it was one of those superhero/villain body aprons that you see at HMV all the time. I was actually very psyched to see it was a Los Pollos Hermanos apron. It comes off as more of an actual prop than just a silly novelty item. Also, a nice break from the obvious choices regarding the over theme of Villains. Plus you can put it on and say “Let’s cook”. So many levels you guys.
Happiness: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Much like the Heroes 2 crate I have no problem with slightly less items in favour of each item actually being very cool. As I’ve mentioned before, odds are pretty good that if you’re putting up twenty to thirty bucks a month after shipping for a box of geek stuff, you’re probably an adult, and it seems in recent months that LC is gearing their swag towards that fact.

Both of these months were very strong.

Peace out homies. See you next month for SUMMON.
