This one is down to the wire y’all. I gotta admit that I’ve been getting my Loot Crates later and later lately, but this is cutting close. We’re May 31st and I got my May POWER Crate yesterday. But hey, it’s still May, it’s still Tuesday, and this blog needs blogging.Loot1

My general impressions of this month were pretty favorable, but by golly was this a geeky box. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I’m geeky as hell. But if I questioning myself about exactly how nerdy getting a box of nerd stuff every month was, this would be a loud and clear “hella nerdy.”

Without further ado, let us take a looksie at what we have in the box!Loot2

Thanos Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitt

I love the functional stuff that comes in Loot Crate, the Breaking Bad Los Pollos Hermanos apron from last year’s VILLAINS 2 box. Stuff that can be used in an every day application and is not a t-shirt is always welcome.

Anyhow, this is an oven mitt that looks like the Infinity Gauntlet. The Infinity Gauntlet storyline kind of has a special place in my heart, it was the first massive comic book “event” that I was aware of as a kid. It came out in 1991, so I was about 8 when it all went down and it just blew my mind that a storyline was crossing over multiple comics and also that heroes were apparently dying left and right. I was, at that tender age, not aware that this happens all the time and comic characters die and come back constantly.

I don’t remember it exactly, but I’m pretty sure that when Thanos kills everyone 8 year old me basically just accepted it and I was wondering “wow, I guess all those comics are over and we’re going to get new comics after this.” Anyhow, now I can pretend to be Thanos when I take a pizza out of the oven.

Dragon Ball Plush Ball Thing

This is like the exact opposite of the Infinity Gauntlet. Throughout my childhood I tried, I really tried, to be into Dragon Ball Z. I watched a bunch of the original Dragon Ball (with Kid Goku), read some of the mangas, and watched DBZ after school on the regular. Somehow, I never really cared. A lot of my friends love the franchise, and I get it that it’s a big deal, but it was never for me. I can’t really fault Loot Crate for going with this in the “POWER” crate though, as the show basically builds up characters into Gods and has them fight with power levels over 9000. This is a cool plush, representing one of the 7 gold Dragon Balls necessary to get a wish. However, doomed to be a re-gift.

Q-Fig Hulk Smash

So I was literally just talking about the Hulk last night. The context was which of the major groups in the Marvel Universe (X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic 4) could take on Superman. The stipulation was that it was the core group only, and not any higher powered variants (so Jean Grey, not Phoenix and no Franklin Richards). I had to give it to the Avengers, because basically Hulk is the only guy on any of these teams who could actually not immediately get his ass kicked by Supes in a punch fight. Add in Ironman’s intellect and Caps’ strategic planning and Thor’s also impressive powers and I think the Avengers might be able to take Superman.

Long story short, Hulk is a great big badass. Cool figurine.

World of Warcraft T-Shirt

You might notice that this shirt is enormous compared to my body. That’s because I chose a Large sized shirt when I saw the franchises that were going to be in the box and I knew I didn’t really care about any of them enough to want to wear on my chest on the regular. My hunch was correct, I’ve never played Warcraft and could care less.

This is a cool design though. Someone I know will be psyched to get this at Keithmas.

Power Loot Pin

Love the pin, but what does it unlock? Some special Loot Pack in Battleborn. A game that is over 60$ to buy and will likely be crushed in the multiplayer market by Overwatch. That’s a bummer bonus item if I ever saw one. It should be a free thing that we can all enjoy. Just saying.

Again, cool pin though.

So, overall, a half decent crate. It’s easy to see why there weren’t a lot of items in here since everything was pretty high quality and would have a pretty big price tag at a store.Loot8

My main gripe is that we’re now at the 5th month of the year and there hasn’t been a book. We had two books in 2015 (Ready Player One and The Book of Terrible Heroes or whatever) and none so far in 2016.

Do you think we’re illiteratitie?

Ha!

Anyhow, next month’s theme is DYSTOPIA and promises things from some of my favorite franchises like Bioshock, Terminator, Matrix, Fallout and Robocop… should be a good one.
