Welcome to Episode 2 of Go Plug Yourself! Recorded in the back of a bar for ambiance and credibility we are joined by the one and only Bones Malones for over an hour.

Bones sat down with Walter and I to discuss his upcoming album launch (it’s his second album, how time flies), the origin story of that song we play at the beginning of each episode, why his album is called “Calyptrophone”, a history lesson of NDG kids fucking around, attention deficit disorder, who’s on the album (guys named Pat, Nick Raz, Chris Raz, Wes, Charlie, John, Mike G, and Greg, and a gal named Alison Louder), the California Raisins, the Ninja Turtles, Lumpy Space Princess, glockenspiels, marimbas,  Bugs Bunny, long form interviews, worrying about how your album sounds, the sound of your own voice, jagoffs, mind boners, musical styles, Tom Waits. You know what? Fuck this. We talk about goddamned everything. We also listen to the first track off the new album called “Temptation”. It was great. Also, note the increase in overall sound quality, it took recording like 10 podcasts (5 of which are scrapped) but we’ve finally got it right!

Bones has a few shows coming up:
Opening for The Slackers this Friday, October 29th (Cabaret Mile-End)
Album Launch Party for “Calyptrophone” on November 5th (Petit Campus)

If you’re not fully sold on Bones Malones you can check him out or follow him or whatever you people do at a million places online (ok, three):

Extra Info: The Flaming Lips album we talk about is Zaireeka.
The California Raisins album we talked about is Meet the Raisins!
Percussion Instruments: Marimba, Xylophone.
We talk about Johnny Carson, not Carson Daly, thought I should clear that up.
I’m pretty sure the documentary Bones was talking about (where they put the camera down Steven Tyler’s throat to show his vocal chords) is Incredible Human Machine.
Lay Lady Lay is off of Nashville Skyline.
The guy from AC/DC is Brian Johnson, Bones was right.
